Default Is it normal for this to happen?

So, I was having a hard time getting past the BIOS screen yesterday, and when I unplugged a USB my computer worked fine...is this normal? I am obviously a bit behind when it comes to proper PC know-how, but this threw me off for so long.

if you know how to check the boot order in the bios, do that and see if usb devices are before your hard drive.

It's never normal for a PC to not boot pass the BIOS.

It was stopping right after I'd see the BIOS screen (wouldn't give me an option to press F8 or any other keys) then it would just be a blank screen with a flashing _ symbol.

do you have your windows disc? boot from it, and do a boot repair.

I have exactly zero issues now, but only after I unplugged the flash drive. I don't understand why it was trying to boot from the flash drive, but I want to make sure that it's not some other issue that I'm clueless of.

turn your computer off, put the drive back in and turn it back on, if it happens again then it's definitely has something to do with the usb.

Turn off, and turn back on? Pretty hard solution, must be some easier way to check.

I'll try it when I get home, still just made me paranoid. It's a brand new rig. My girlfriend got so mad at me, telling me it was something I downloaded and I destroyed the computer.
