Should probably read it again at some point. Good stuff.

Unfortunately there must be a God to necessitate such a question. You asking anyone to back up any statement made with evidence would be entirely futile because neither they nor you could actually do so. Unless you can talk to God this thread is entirely pointless.

If you can talk to God the last thing you should do is spend time on a Halo forum.

I take it that's a response to the original post without reading the stuff inbetween...

I believe i'm entitled to do so, and I personally prefer not having to sift through 9 pages of posts in order to debate contextually.

In reference to good philosophical books to read, I personally loved The God Delusion. Anyone read it?

9 pages isn't much, and you might find some interesting stuff. At least read a couple of 'em. Your response would've probably been changed a little.

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins is more like a self righteous draft for an "Atheist Bible." Such a book would be 374 pages of irony (excluding the appendix and index).

The work isn't very philosophic; Dawkins approached The God Delusion as he does everything -- scientifically. The philosophical content really comes from other people and not Dawkins himself; the works of other people cited are worth more of your time if you're looking for more philosophic bang for your buck. The God Delusion is a scientist's way of saying "There's no evidence" with regurgitated philosophy already known from the last 2500 years.

If you want philosophic insight into the problem of God, Dawkins is the least of all people you want to look to. Philosophy does not come with bias -- science is bound by bias, for part of the scientific method is a hypothesis, whereas philosophy has no hypothesis, no assumption (other than perhaps a metaphysical or epistemelogical one, but good philosophy covers that as well).

Dawkins is really just an asshole.
