Default Merry Christmas Everyone...

Well, just look at the title and I think you might be able to start a little something with me here. Honestly, I really don't see what the big deal is. Everyone I've talked to, atheists alike have told me straight up that taking Merry Christmas away and changing it to Merry Holiday, or Holiday Tree is completely asinine. What do you guys think?

Dude I'm atheist but I grew up a Christian and Merry Christmas is a tradition so I'm proud to say it.

"Our thoughts, values, every ‘yes,’ ‘no,’ ‘if’ and ‘but’ grow from us with the same inevitability as fruits borne on the tree — all related and each with an affinity to each"

"
Digressions, objections, delight in mockery, carefree mistrust are signs of health; everything unconditional belongs in pathology."

Why not just say Happy Holidays? It really won't hurt anyone. I hope not.

I don't really care, but seriously. Not everyone celebrates Christmas. Just saying.

As I've taken all the actual meaning out of Christmas, I don't differentiate between saying "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holidays". And since I never said "Happy Holidays" to begin with, it's "Merry Christmas" for me.

Well, who actually sees Christmas as to what was supposed to be?

Not a lot of people. . .

"im pretty sure when i said, was because its the same word. not a different word. then the meaning's of the word... but okay"

Christmas has been bastardized into a holiday about presents and comercialism in america. So I have no problem saying it.

I grew up with chanukka, it hasn't been altered like christmas has. And if you think christmas is the only holiday celebrated around this time then you are mistaken. That is why people say happy holidays to people that they don't know what holiday they celebrate and merry chrismas to people that they know celebrate present day.

I don't celebrate Christmas for the religious aspect, so yes, I do say Merry Christmas.

I've tried, since I first stopped believing, to not involve myself with Christmas; my parents insist, and so I do it anyway. It's not even the religious aspect I despise, it's the commercialized hallmark holiday aspect I despise. I hate Christmas, but I love Christmas music. I hate the commercialization, but I love the gift giving (even though as I grow older the Christmas celebration gets duller and duller; this year was, to be a grinch, crappy).

I say Merry Christmas, by force of habit first and foremost, but as a nonreligious person it's really rather irrelevant to me. I don't care.

I thought people said Happy Holidays so that it incorporated the other celebrations, like that Jewish one I can't spell, as well.

Merry Christmas is awesome.

I don't believe in anything behind it except the whole giving ideal

;P

Like most of America anyway.
