Default Moving stuff...

ok well im wondering if there is a way to move data on my laptop onto my desktop easier than a flashdrive. I do all my torrenting for music on my laptop and then move it on to my desktop cuz thats where all my music for itunes is...so im wondering is there an easier way than putting some on a 256 mb flash drive?

VPN, or using your network to transfer files.

FTP, or enable Windows File Sharing/Print Sharing.

When LAN is not available, I will often use DVD-RW/External HDD.

Alternatively, if you are looking for a plug-n-play solution, this is what many techs use to pull data off a laptop hdd. All it takes is this $12 kit, which is also useful for other things as well, such as using *any* sata DVD drive for a laptop (doesn't have to be external - useful for installing an OS on a driveless laptop/netbook), rescuing data from any sata 2.5 3.5 hdd also.

This is actually the easiest method - it does not require setting up Windows Media Sharing (which can be brutal on system resources btw), SAMBA (Windows Filesharing) or FTP - just pull the laptop drive, plug and go.

Note that this is absolutely a *must have* for any amateur or professional IT/enthusiast. It is worth its weight in gold when you have, say, a friend with an unbootable laptop and tons of data to rescue.

link provided for example of what you need.
