nope

doesn't matter what my list is. everyone's else's are just plain unimaginative. there's so much film out there and 90% of people's picks are hollywood blockbusters from the last 10 years.

it's not necessarily a bad thing, it just shows neglect for foreign or older films. i don't see why people limit themselves to the latest hyped thing instead of exploring other areas.

Those just happen to be the movies I enjoyed the most. There's a ton of movies I thoroughly liked that you'd probably appreciate. I'm not really into fishing for foreign movies myself, but if you want to point me in the direction of any you regard highly, I'll gladly look into them. I never would have watched Oldboy if people on this forum hadn't keep talking it up.

Argued a little ignorant, but basically my thoughts. This thread has a lack of uniqueness and "very own" Top lists, which do not look like 80% similar to the previous.. Just kinda lame. Somehow i have the feeling that people don't post their real favorite's, because they're afraid somehow what others would think, which is a shame because the great secret-tips & underdog diamonds remain hidden and the very same hollywood-blockbusters take place instead. lame is lame.

Probably because most of us did the most growing up in the last ten years.

Just because you don't see an older/foreign movie on someone's list, it doesn't necessarily mean they haven't explored.

Always with this same comment.

We're more comfortable with what we've grown up on. The majority of us didn't grow up on movies that required subtitles. The majority of us didn't grow up watching Brando or Stewart on the big screen. We grew up on Arnold, Stallone, Carrey, Crowe, DiCaprio, Blanchett, Winslet, etc. We grew up on American cinema. Now, I'm not arguing for myself but more for my generation of average movie goers. I understand why they find it hard to explore.

awh c'mon shunt, this is a pretty moronic statement man. Read both again i guess. I actually wanted to post these thoughts already a while back, just didn't pressed "submit reply". Reading the post of scott, has only refreshed my view to this matter.

Nostalgia. You'll generally love what you grew up with, so movies that came out during your "era" as a child and you grew older watching will have a better sentimental impact on you then ones you didn't. Then there's people that watch stuff like Transformers and are like "fuck nostalgia, I like effects, poor story development, and little to no action that was all shown in the trailer."

With that being said I have watched a few 80's films and absolutely loved them.

I'm silently judging everyone based on their lists btw.
