Default Need help building a Visual Effects/3d modeling computer ($3000 budget)

I want a set-up similar to the one here, better if possible, but I would rather piece it all together as it will save me money. Does anyone have any suggestions to create a better set-up within a $3000 budget? And what site would you suggest buying the parts through? Newegg maybe? Thanks a ton in advance!

Spend ~$1k of it on a high res monitor.

Be it a dell 2713, u3011, hp zr30, apple 27" cinema display.

Will provide a much much better experience.

I don't think I would go socket 2011. Seems to be too much of a premium for not much gain(idk tho haven't gave a shit about this shit since may).

My advice:

3770k
16/32gb of ram, whichever you want
corsair 500r case(really no sense spending shitloads on a case just to spend shitloads on a case. This one is damn good and relatively cheap).
GTX 670 if you want to play games. If not, probably a 560 Ti or something
~700w corsair/seasonic psu
256gb ssd and then probably a couple 1 or 2tb drives for storage
I've had a wonderful experience with my Asrock motherboard. Pretty happy that a budget board performed infinitesimally better than the $300+ mobos I had in the past.
H100 or the equivalent for cpu cooling.

Gimme a few minutes and I'll make this into a coherent list

Corsair 500R case
Samsung 2TB HDD x2
Dell u2713HM
MSI GTX 660 Ti
Corsair AX850
G Skill 16GB Sniper ram
Asrock Z77 mobo
3770k
Corsair H100i
Crucial 256GB SSD

You can decide for yourself if you want to buy windows. Also the graphics card may be a wee bit overkill. You can also buy 2 sets of that ram if you do in fact want 32GB. The psu is also overkill but it doesn't hurt to have a little headroom.

I put the dell in there as an example. With the build as is, comes out to ~$2,600.
