Ummm, a group of animals with very similar DNA? I give up lol.

Are you implying that the definition of species is very floppy or something? I'm really not sure haha.

Horrible secret of science. There are about 20 definitions for the term species. Some are more accepted than others, there are 3 most accepted/used ones. All of the based on different characteristics.

So . . . .In this question, depending on the what definition the author wants to take, the answer differs.

Google Species Concept

Similar DNA? We have similar DNA (not just to monkeys) but some frogs too.

Dis is wat I remeber from Bio-

-Be able to reproduce beyond one generation
-same mating times or something like that
-sex is anatomically feasible

Genetic code is not universal despite what they tell you.
We have very high levels of similarity in genetic code to about everything out there, but varying levels of homology.

Hell we are 45% similar to many plants, in the usable part of the genome. (about 1.5% of our genetic code is actually used)

These are all characters, but incomplete as a definition for any of the species concepts.

It is assanine how complicated such a simple question is, but it is overlooked by many people.

Even scientists read the question, blank over it, without even thinking. . . hell, what do you think the author means by this word?

This is why it is such a contexual concept that whenever such an ambiguous term is used, it must be defined in scientific papers. Pain in the ass.

From a factual point of view, what you said made no sense. I really don't think, still, that you know what species really means. Use the term loosely, but correctly, and you'll see what I mean.

90% similar is not similar. There's still a sh.tload of different genes which differ.
